Greater Pushaw Lake Association

Preserving and improving the quality of Pushaw Lake and Little Pushaw Pond
in the towns of Glenburn, Hudson, Old Town, and Orono.

The Greater Pushaw Lake Association (GPLA) is a membership organization that includes both year-round and seasonal residents who live in more than 900 camps and homes along the shores of Pushaw Lake in south-central Penobscot County, Maine. GPLA's mission is to preserve and improve the quality of Pushaw Lake and Little Pushaw Pond. Our membership is drawn from thirteen distinct lakeside neighborhoods, each of which has its own camp owners, lake, and/or road association. The shoreline is in four municipalities: Glenburn, Hudson, Old Town, and Orono. The larger lake watershed includes eight municipalities and an estimated 10,000 people.
  • *************************************************************************************************************************************2026 Invasive Plant Patrol (IPP) Jump-Start August 5 to August 12
The IPP Jump-Start brings volunteers from all over the state to help survey vulnerable lakes in less densely populated areas. This year we are going to Pushaw Lake and Little Pushaw Pond, just west of Bangor, and we want you to join us! You don't have to be a plant identification expert or a long-time volunteer to come, just a desire to get out on the water looking for plants. Housing is provided, and boats may be available too!
Please contact Christine Guerette at [email protected] with questions or to express interest.                                            ************************************************************************************************************************************

  • NOTE -  If you would like to schedule a future LakeSmart visit contact us at [email protected]  Our trained volunteers will not only walk your property with you and suggest ways to protect the lake;  you will also receive a written personalized summary of your property with recommendations and resources specific to your waterfront. What you do after that is completely up to you; LakeSmart is free, non-regulatory and carries no obligations.  Please see the LAKESMART section of this website for more details.
